I am researching for medical facility.
2. Why are you researching this building typology?
I have never done medical facility before. And I think the program for the it is very special, and quite different from any other normal commercial or public spaces. So I want to study it.
3. What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research i.e. museum for dance, school for digital media...
I want to do a hospital for children.

6. What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building? (may evolve once more research is done)
A medical Center or a hospital is something that the community needs. But do not think of it as just a hospital. Try to bring something unique to your building that distinguishes it from other hospitals.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a childrens hospital - but how is it different than any Childrens hospital in the city? It is a bit far away and most people would not travel here for emergencies - so think of who would come to this hospital and why it is located so far from the city?

ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a children's hospital. I think that narrowing your function/audience to something very specific will also help you to generate a strong design.
ReplyDeleteHowever, as Prof. Jill said, location may be an issue and transportation is rather scarce as well. Maybe your project has more of a rehabilitation facility nature rather than an emergency facility. That way patients can enjoy the location and views.
Also, I know you and your group did a good site analysis. Please post in to this blog.
In Climate Analysis both images of the model seem to depict sun coming Eastwards. Possibly 9:00 am, Winter and Summer? Cant be both March 21st different hours. Usually the days of interest regarding the sunpath analysis of a site are: Winter Solstice (21st december), Summer Solstice (21st june) and an Equinox (21st Sept. or 21st March)
